Alan Cappelli Goetz interpreterà Eron nella serie LARPers - to protect and play.
ACG: ...
ACG: Grazie a voi, a presto!
Nerd up yoursElf!

And so a new member is on board. LARPers’ crew grows once more, and the romantic atmosphere slowly slips away towards an enthusiastical sense of reality.
Alan Cappelli Goetz will be Eron in LARPers - To protect and play. We will talk about the character in a few days, for now let’s focus on the actor.
Happy for this new confirm in our cast, I dig into my second experience as journalist. The first-time anxiety didn’t fade away of course, and my second approach to this experience has been conducted with the same amount of cautiosness just like a snake enchanters’ assistant.
I was wrong.
‘Cuz Alan not only showed great disposal, but he led me into an enthusiastic conversation about LARPers project, Interactive Theatre, Live Action Role Playing in general and everything connected to it; leaving me a strong kindness from the embarrassment of asking questions in a talk-show style.
So I discovered that not only LARPers’ cast gained an extremely kind person, but that the writing work done so far with Umberto strucked this actors in a way I could never have imagined.Alan’s approach to the screenplay showed me new points of view that gave me a lot to think about. This is just one of the things I have to remember to thank him for. Once again the theme of “serious playing“ came up. You’ll realize further in the interview that this approach, from who looks at larping from the outside, is often missed from the ones who live it from the inside. I’ve never considered such matters until it has been showed to me twice in a row in such a short span of time.
I’ve known Alan for some years, we firstly met on a set, then I had the pleasure to closely follow his formation at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. From the advertising campaign with the TIM minibus directed by Gabriele Muccino he made the leap to Television and then to Cinema. He took part in the miniseries “Notte prima degli esami”, “Tutti pazzi per amore”, “Un passo dal cielo” and “Come un delfino”. Then he participated in the movies “Come non detto“ and the blockbuster directed by Alessandro Siani “Il principe abusivo”. But I think he is ready to step to the international level. And I would like to see him in “Crossing lines”, that was recently directed and is in post production right now.
His comical verve is unquestionable, but I wanted him to act a dramatic role in my previous project “99899” as the main character. He faced the overwhelming sense of alienation that surrounds the character with an outstanding maturity; he reminded me of Sam Rockwell in “Moon”. Then, I must admit, we characterized Eron thinking about him; when we will say something more about this character you will immediately understand why!
The truth is that Alan is not only a great actor and a good friend, but also a person that has supported me from a professional point of view and has always believed in my projects, even the most ambitious ones. I feel at ease knowing that we will face together this adventure.
Back to the interview. For the sake of synthesis I’ll write it down in the standard question/answer format.
GDS:How did LARPers cross your path?
ACG: It all started when I met Umberto…
Ok, stop.
Those who have been following this blog, had already read this sentence about fifteen times. Get use to it ‘cause I swear it’s not a narrative trick. All the people involved in LARPers give this exact answer when asked how did they started to work at the serie.
Let’s go on.
ACG:…it was during the shooting of New Moon. A fortunate event get us together, and since then has been a solid professional fellowship based on respect for the other’s talent. I starred in many of Umberto short movies, and when the idea of LARPers came up, he was the one to ask me to join.
GDS: Your first reaction when you first read the script.
ACG: Panic!
GDS: Really?
ACG: (laugh) Yeah, but in agood way. I immediately tought that the idea of picture situation so linked to the larping word was an exciting challenge. The larping reality is such amazing. I had the chance to play, beyond Umberto’s counsel. I remember it aa a very intense and…therapeutic experience, as alla the experience that force you to get yourself into it, completely. The seriousness with the players connect themselves with, left me positively surprised. The fact that it’s a game doesn’t mean that it’s considered less important than other things. I think it’s a very good lesson.
GDS: As the only rapresentant of larpers in here, I feel pleased by your words.Thank you!
ACG:The second reaction was of pure fun. My character is so entertaining!
GDS:True, I admit it was fun to write too. What can you tell me about the media we chose? About web series?
ACG: I believe that webseries are a new channel, full of potential. The fact that is been broadcast on a small screne, often on youtube, mislead people into thinking about them as a second level product. It’s not. It’s necessary to give the right professionality to this new mean of communication. Internet world is immense, and everything that can distract the audience from your webseries is just a click away. That’s the reason why competency and professionality are foundamental to realize a product that can tangle and entertain the spectators.
GDS: Thank again Alan for your time!
ACG: Thanks to you, and see you soon!
And so, another interview with a person who decided to give credit to the idea that we put on paper. I’m relieved, and a little bit more relaxed. As I get to know all the people that are commiting themselves into this project, the level of anxiety subside, leaving place to a great amount of expectation. Above al this there’s always the happiness of seeing LARPers getting real day by day, with the help of more people over and over.
Thanks everyone to be so close to us, I promise you, we’ll try not to let you down. Until next time, and remember… Nerd Up YoursElf!
