“Penso che la distinzione tra un tradizionale programma televisivo e uno show televisivo online svanirà presto” sono le parole di Roy Price, direttore dei nuovissimi Amazon Studios.

Finalmente sembra che anche le grandi aziende come Amazon e Netflix abbiano compreso il valore dei contenuti via web e si stiano preparando a un’imminente battaglia a colpi di produzioni milionarie e grandi nomi.

Tutto è cominciato con lo straordinario successo di "House of Cards", la serie da 100 millioni di dollari con protagonista Kevin Spacey, prodotta da Netflix e pensata esclusivamente per il web. Niente di cui stupirsi, visto che dietro alla macchina da presa c'è la mano sapiente di David Fincher (regista di “The social network”, “Fight Club” e “Seven”, tanto per citare alcuni dei suoi lavori più conosciuti).

Ma il colosso dell'e-commerce non resta con le mani in mano e risponde con l'annuncio di 11 episodi pilota che saranno visionabili gratuitamente tramite il servizio instant video della piattaforma Amazon Prime. Tra gli attori coinvolti in questa operazione sono trapelati i nomi di artisti del calibro di John Goodman e Bill Murray, che vestiranno i panni di due senatori nella serie “Alpha House”.

Tra i titoli più attesi del palinsesto Amazon anche la serie “Zombieland”, tratta dal film omonimo a opera degli stessi sceneggiatori della versione cinematografica.

Presto Amazon mostrerà ai propri utenti i pilot e deciderà della sopravvivenza o soppressione di queste serie in base alla risposta del pubblico.

Questi sono i segni inequivocabili che il mercato delle web serie diventa ogni giorno una realtà più solida e sempre più piattaforme si stanno avvicinando a questo mondo. Infatti, di recente, anche il sito Spotify ha mostrato il suo interesse nei confronti dello streaming video di show e film; inoltre molte voci di corridoio vorrebbero Microsoft, Apple, Google e Intel alle prese con produzioni simili.

Nothing to wonder that behind the camera there’s the capable hand of David Fincher (director of "The social network," "Fight Club" and "Seven" just to name a few of his best known works). But the giant of the e-commerce does not remain still with folded hands and he answers with the announcement of 11 pilots that will be watched for free via the instant video service platform of Amazon Prime. Among the actors involved in this operation were leaked the names of artists such as John Goodman and Bill Murray, which will assume the role of two senators in the series "Alpha House". Among the most anticipated titles of the Amazon palimpsest also "Zombieland" the series from the homonymous movie and written by the same screenwriters of the film version. Soon Amazon will show its users the pilot and will decide for the survival or elimination of these series based on the response of the public.

These are two unmistakable signs that the market for web series is becoming a more solid reality and a lot of different platforms are approaching this world.
