Dovevo ancora capire in quale veste volevo farlo.
GDS: Cosa intendi dire?

As promised on Facebook page, this week we’ll get the chance to know better, another of the actors who will partecipate in LARPers - To protect and play!-.
Matteo Tanganelli. Matteo, aside from being a Larper, is an actor. When me and Umberto were writing the script and came up with the character of Giacomo, we both thought that would have been perfect for someone with a solid knowledge of larper’s world, to be played. The choice fell on Matteo, who is, not only an actor, but also a really good one. So let’s meet him!
Giulio Dal Santo: Where does your passion for acting come from? And when you decided to make a professional job out of it?
Matteo Tanganelli: I think I’ve always been intrested in acting, since I was a child. It was Role Playing Games though that helped me understand that it was something more than a mere interest.Something more like a passion.Growing up, and keeping on with this hobby I understood that what i wanted to do was telling stories. What I had to figure out was under wich role I wanted to do so.
GDS:What do you mean?
MT: When I had to chose my academic course, i signed up in the Arts and SHowbusiness History course, at the University of Siena. I wanted to “study” the showbusiness and i was intrested particulary in directing. My plans were, once graduated, to go on in a more technical school to actually learn how to direct a movie.
GDS:But...?
MT: But, and i answer your first question here, as I was going on studying, I get in contact with the Theatre. At first I think is because I wanted to know the world of acting, knowing that if I would be a director, I should have know how actors feel. Then Theatre conquered me, and I understood that that was the “side” I was looking for.
GDS:No more directing, and a lot of Drama, then?
MT:Correct. Since 2006 up till now i never stopped. I attended a lot of workshop to better collect as many as techniques as possible.Four years ago I joined a company by a Siena Theatre. We realized some pieces and brought’em out on tourneè. We even perform in Teatro dell’Orologio in Rome. It’s a long way to the top, but I really love it.
GDS:Meanwhile you never stop you Larping experience.
MT:Never! Givin the influence that it has on me, l can’t look at larping just as a momento of relief.Of course there are funny moments, but while I’m playing I try to connect myself with the acting side of it.I do not “suspend the reality”, I try to act as best as possible in a dynamic eviroment, halfway between improvvisation and scripting. Even after alla those years I find it stimulating just as the first time.
GDS:Then came LARPers
MT:Yes. Umberto talked me about it a while ago, dragging into the conversation the character of Giacomo. I was really excited, not only for the chance to work with him, but also because I saw LARPers as a new, original creature, that would have helped that undeserved stigma of “loser” from the larping world.
GDS:What are yours expectation from this experience?
MT:To learn how to manage an acting eviroment so different from the one I’m familiar with.To have fun, and to be able to link together the world of larping with the world of audiovisual.I think they have a lot of things in common that they should share.
And I’m personally convinced that Matteo will do just fine. Let me say something at the end of this interview. I know Matteo since a long time now. We met playing together in GRVItalia, something like ten years ago, and ever since our friendship grows strong. When I knew that Matteo chose to became an actor, I was glade and happy for him.I’ve always had the tendency of consider hima a kinda of “little brother” (yes he’s younger than me) and I’ve been truly happy to get the chance to work with him on LARPers.Interviewing him for this post helped me realize how proud he made me. This will be a wondefull journey.
No, dry your tears, and keep on supporting us, ‘cause the Teaser shooting are coming!
