Perché è proprio un post scivoloso, no? Capito come?
No, grazie.
Buon giovedì a tutti e...
To protect and play!
Giù.

I think I could say that this is the most difficult article I’ll ever have to post on this blog.
‘Cause it’s the classic slippery slope, you know? You have to speak about crowd funding, and everyone may think that you’re tryin’ to get into their pockets, so everything you say sounds fake, and bogus, it sounds like a bad pans commercial. You know that, don’t you?
“Spare a coffee and save a webserie”
No thanks. A part from the fact that I drink 8 coffee a day on average, I wouldn’t be that reliable.
And I was afraid to break the thin ice I was walking on, fallin’ into the abyss of the unsaid, like everytime someone talk about this operations. And I haven’t found the right words, and I struggled, banged my head against the wall, chewed on tables’ legs and of course, I tore my clothes apart.
I deleted the text file at least twenty time, no kidding.
So,no poetry, no funny jokes (but the accidentally ones ofc) but the best way I’ve chose to face the argument is just the bare naked truth.
So be it!
First question is: “What does Crowd Funding mean?”. It’s a (pretty) new kind of fund collecting to support projects, humanitarian campaigns, research and pretty much everything else. It seems that the first presidential campaign of Obama was partially funded by this means, collecting money from the candidate’s supporters.
It’s really that simple.. There’s a project, and it’s possible for everyone to invest money on it. In exchange for his investment the investor receives a benefit linked to the project itself, valued on the amount of the money granted. A tangible recognition, showing the appreciation of the owners of the project through the investor.
Everything’s clear and smooth so far.
Now, the question everyone was waiting for (or better say “the answer to the question everyone was waiting for”): “Why give money to LARPers?”
Right, ‘cause we’re talking about givin’ money to a bunch of people who write on a Facebook Fanpage and on a Blog, but actually noone really knows why.
I promised you the truth, and I’ll stick with that.I thought a lot about a valid reason to financially support a project like LARPers. I tried to walk myslef in the same shoes of those who will read this lines and I grew the convinction that the purpose of this article is not persuading anyone.
Let me say three things. Just three, I promise, then you’ll decide if they’re worthy of your consideration, and you’ll decide if and when help us.
First of all, I’ll get rid of the hardest part. None of the people involved in LARPers will get paid by the funds raised.
Sorry about my harsh words but a promise is a promise.
Everyone who step on working (and I didn’t say “cooperate” for a reason) in LARPers had clear in mind that it would have been a no-retributed job. We’re talking about people who are professionals of cinematography industry (just to be clear about that) who joined us in this adventure beacuse (and it will seems naive) they believed in what LARPers can became.
Every penny we will raise through C.F. will be invested in covering the costs of a cinematographic production (renting, transportations, materials) but it will not become a salary for the people involved by any means.
Knowing the frailty of the matter ,all the staff of LARPers choses to walk the road of the financial transparency. We will provide a review of the expenses substained using the money raised.
Ooooooooh, now I do feel better!
I hate talking about money, but alas! The harsh truth is to make things right, ideas and will alone aren’t enough most of the time.
The second thing I want to invite you to consider is proficiency. LARPers has the fortune of gathering together a crew and a cast of professional people in both technical and artistic field. We’re talking about young people, and let me say that again, Young People who actually work in that industry, that had made up a job out of their passion for movies. People who know what they’re doing . Knowing it for real. I’m the newbie among all of them and I’m not ashamed to say that I admire the professionalism and seriousness they approach the work with, knowing that they will never get paid for that. Let’s face it, that’s something you don’t see everyday. But, I think that’s how a real professional works.
Third and last thing, I want to talk about our Ideas.
I don’t care if it sounds preposterous,as one of the co-writer of the project once said, ‘cause truth to be told is that I’m a bit preposterous myself, so I daresay we’re even here. LARPers is something new on the italian landscape. It’s even daring, and maybe in spite of that. It faces themes and situations that are rarely confronted in our country: it talks about a reality quite spread but not yet perceived by our culture. And it’s fun: it’s an original product, that comes from a massive push of self-irony and grown with the convinction that such thing deserves to see the light.
This convinction leads everyone of us to put everything else on second place, afterall.
The crowdfunding will start on April 1st. And it will not be a joke.
Ok I’ve done it.
I’m sorry for the lenght of this article, but I had to say, I wanted to say those things in the raight way like I’ve done. No Slogans, no big deals. LARPers’ journey will be long, I’ll be happy to know that someone among you will travel with us.
Let me break my promise just for the parting.
Have a nice Thursday and...
To protect and play!
